Mesmerizing things I found in Beppu

All the way from the northern prefecture, Akita, I traveled to Beppu since I am a domestic exchange student. Even though it’s my first time here, I am already in love with this place! I will share my favorite things I found amazing throughout my journey here in Beppu.

Hot springs await me to come home

AP House 3, the dormitory I live in, has a hot spring that we can use for free. I love the moment I immerse my tired body and reflect on myself at the end of the day. Taking new friends in a naked body and open mind in the hot spring, we can easily get close to each other. When nobody other than me is in the bath, I sometimes sing songs in a small voice. Both are relaxing and let me free from all the stress and worries. It is precious that I can think “let’s go to the hot spring in my home” after working hard or walking for a long time and getting tired. If we walk around Beppu, we can find a lot of public hot springs and see the community cultivated there. Needless to say, hot springs are one of the best treasures of Beppu!

A variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc.

Beppu has numerous small stores full of originality and commitment to quality. I am still on my way to exploring, and I have a lot of places I wish to go during the rest of my stay in Beppu. Maybe in my next article, I would like to introduce my favorite shops and restaurants you can enjoy in Beppu!

My hometown is located in the northern part of Japan and is very cold, having a lot of snow in winter. Since I arrived here, I have felt like it’s sunny and warm almost every day, making me happy. (These days it's getting cold though...) I bought a scooter to maximize what I can do during my stay here. We seldom see scooters in Akita, maybe because of the snow, but we see many people riding them here. It is refreshing to ride scooters and feel some fresh air under the shining sun.

I would like to keep exploring Beppu before winter comes with my new scooter!
